Social Responsibility

ALINKA Fine Jewellery is crafted with materials and practices that are benchmarked by the highest of ethical, social and environmental standards.

ALINKA DIAMONDS:

ALINKA diamonds have been sourced through legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict, in compliance with United Nations resolutions and in accordance with the Kimberley Process.

  • To trade only with companies that include warranty declarations.
  • To not purchase diamonds from suspect sources or unknown suppliers, or which originate in countries that have not implemented the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.
  • To not purchase diamonds from any sources that, after a legally binding due process system, have been found to have violated government regulations restricting the trade in conflict diamonds.
  • To not purchase diamonds in or from any region that is subject to an advisory by a governmental authority indicating that conflict diamonds are emanating from or available for sale in such region, unless diamonds have been exported from such region in compliance with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.
  • To not knowingly buy or sell or assist others to buy or sell conflict diamonds.
  • To ensure that all company employees that buy or sell diamonds within the diamond trade are well informed regarding trade resolutions and government regulations restricting the trade in conflict diamonds.

ALINKA GEMSTONES & PRECIOUS METALS:

ALINKA partners are certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). The Responsible Jewellery Council is a global membership and standards body for responsible jewellery through the entire supply chain. The RJC Code of Practices and Code of Conduct are the only industry standards covering the entire jewellery and watch supply chain. It ensures full transparency on how they were sourced, traced and processed, from mine to retail. Held to the strictest of standards, all RJC members are required to have a surveillance audit to ensure ongoing compliance.

The RJC references key development frameworks, including:

  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights: The economic, social, political, cultural and civic rights that underpin a life free from want and fear. The UDHR is not a reward for good behaviour, not country-specific, or particular to a certain era or social group. It is the inalienable entitlements of all people, at all times, and in all places, people of every colour, from every race and ethnic group; whether or not they are disabled; citizens or migrants; no matter their sex, their class, their caste, their creed, their age or sexual orientation.
  • International Labour Organisation Principles (ILO): Freedom of association and the right to organise and bargain collectively; the prohibition of forced labor; prohibition of child labor; and the elimination of discrimination in employment.
  • UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The SDG are no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions and partnerships for the goals.
